Hi Friends today I wanted to share the Halloween books my kids and I have been LOVING! For reference my kiddos are 18 months and almost 4, but I think most kids under 8 would enjoy these!
I also wanted to share a local book store my girls and I have been enjoying! Inkwood Books in Haddonfield NJ has such a fun and unique selection of books for kids and adults. They have a curated selection of books that is a mix between classic with those new fun books that you won’t find shopping in the big stores! They also have an online store so you can still support a local business from home!! Its an adorable store located in downtown Haddonfield making it a fun activity to enjoy not only this bookstore but lots of other local shopping as well.
Make sure to check out them out for all these books plus tons more!

#1 Pig the Monster
Pig The Monster by Aaron Blabey is a silly (sometimes a little naughty) story about a pug named Pig who is selfishly stealing all the candy and then seeking vengeance on those who don’t give out candy on Halloween. He also eats way too much candy and chokes, his dog brother Trevor has to think quickly to save the day. Pig learns his lesson and is a better pup the next Halloween. Its a fun story to read, sometimes I get a little tongue tied but it has me and my girls chuckling the whole way through!
#2 Room on the Broom
Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson has been a book we have kept out all year because my girls love it so much. The story follows a kindhearted witch as she flies through the sky losing things along the way. As she loses her items she meets friends who accompany her on her journey. Eventually her broom breaks, a dragon chases the witch, and her new friends have to save her. It’s a beautifully written story about friendship.
#3 Big Pumpkin
Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman is new to us this year. We were watching read aloud stories on Youtube and my older daughter fell in love with it. This story is also about a witch. This witch is going to make pumpkin pie but her pumpkin is so big she can not get it off the vine. Various Halloween themed creatures come along to help like a ghost, vampire, mummy, and a bat. Eventually they are able get it off the vine with teamwork and smart thinking. It’s a fun lighthearted story about problem solving.
#4 Creepy pair of Underwear
Creepy Pair of Underwear by Aaron Blabey is a silly story about a bunny named Jasper who goes out to buy underwear and comes home with a creepy pair of glow in the dark underwear. Although this book isn’t technically Halloween themed its so unique I had to include it! He wants to be a brave bunny but the underwear has a creepy green glow and he just cant seem to get rid of them no matter how he tries. This story is all about overcoming your fears told in a silly, slightly spooky way.
